Treatment #2 – The First 3 Minutes

Title: Class A Prescription

Duration: 3-4 minutes.

Audience: The ideal audience we want for this opening film are people who are intrigued in thrillers, and will get rooted into the plot and questions raised. We’re aiming for an audience of about 15-25, especially students due to having disposable income through their parents, and apparent interest into the genre. We also can look to advertise to Yorkshire people due to how we filmed in Yorkshire and had Yorkshire actors, however this is the only thing that would exempt them from other actors and locations, meaning outside of Yorkshire we can’t advertise this as a USP, and can’t use the filmed in Britain as a USP outside of Britain. The current lull in major movie pictures that combine sci-fi and thriller, with many modern thrillers focusing on paranormal thrillers or murder thrillers, this can open a certain niche in the audience due to wanting more sci-fi thrillers.

Certificate: 15

Distributor: Universal Pictures.

Synopsis: The film begins with the main two characters, Jarrod and Danni, going for a walk together in a local park, they are dressed in regular clothing that wouldn’t stand out today. They seem to be having a nice time, until they notice an apparent body, presumably dead, next to a pond. They rush over to him and urgently try to wake him up, and after checking if he is breathing and check his pulse. They drag him to the pond, yelling about having to call 999 and hoping he isn’t dead. They pull him to the grass from the banking, and Danni begins to do CPR on him. He struggles to cough up water, once coughing up all of the water he is able to come around, however he’s still feeling dazed and confused from the whole ordeal. They decide against calling 999 and they decide to take him back to their house, he is still dazed when they make this decision and follows along with it. It cuts to their home, and they take him inside and set him down to warm him up, making him a mug of coffee and waiting for him to fully come round and wake up. Over this time, it repeatedly keeps cutting to a black screen while showcasing the actors in the film, once this sequence is over, it shows the current events.

Danni and Jarrod introduce themselves calmly to the man, awaiting his response nervously, while trying to remain calm. They ask if he’s OK and try to make sure he isn’t dazed or confused anymore. Jarrod questions how he ended up near the pond, but Kian states he has no memory of yesterday, developing on this by telling them how he has no memory of anything since yesterday morning, which is show through a flashback sequence. Kian finishes the coffee and says he’s fine to go home, to which Jarrod and Danni refuse, insisting he should be driven home. Kian, refusing the help, says he’ll walk himself home, and his house isn’t very far. Kian begins walking home, and shows Kian having a migraine, with shaky shots, close up, and it begins to show him having a vision in a flashback sequence type shot. He sees Jarrod and Danni getting shot, killing them, by a mugger in the park that they found Kian. Kian realises he needs to act fast, running back to the house only to find they’re out already. He follows his instinct and vision, running to the park where he saw them getting shot.

After getting to the park he looks around frantically for them, hoping they haven’t been shot yet, and finds them walking near the pond in which they first found him. He runs over to them, and they’re worried he’s gotten worse. He quickly explains the problem and how they’re in danger, with them not believing him due to how he’s not been well since they saw him. Inevitably, a mugger turns up, he threatens Kian and insists that Jarrod gives him what he has, confusing Jarrod. Kian then attacks the mugger and wrestles him to the ground. The mugger shoots Kian, shocking Jarrod and Dannie, and shocking the mugger when he realises the bullet didn’t do anything, no mark or pain is left on Kian. The mugger is startled and runs away, scared at what just happened, dropping his gun as he runs.

Kian picks the gun up, Jarrod and Danni visibly scared, Danni asks ‘How did you know this will happen?’, to which Kian has no words.
