would be the audience for your media product?
The genre of our film is a superhuman sci fi revolving around the issues of drug use and murder. Due to this, the audience that we are basing our film towards is between 15 - 16, because we believe that this is the age range that is best suited for our film, as it tackles some mature issues and images, which could be seen a inappropriate to a younger audience. As well as this, by having a lower age rating, the film would be able to reach a wider audience, anyone over the age of 15, in turn making more money.
To help us decide the best age rating for our film, we created a questionnaire about it to see peoples thoughts. It involved questions about the plot, characters, possible distributors, as well as questions asking peoples opinions on the best age rating. We gave this questionnaire to around 30 people, to give us a wide response from people, hoping to give us the most accurate answers possible. The majority of the answers we reserved stated they thought the film should be a 15 rating, as we had originally thought. So with this data behind us, we filmed our project keeping many of the scenes planned in place, such as the violence and murder that may not have been possible with a younger age rating. As well as that, we added these action sequences, as well as fast pace editing to connote the excitement that many superhuman films do, such as 'Deadpool' and 'Logan', two 15 or R rated films in america, which the audience of that age range seem to enjoy.
