Cinematography and Camerawork commonly used within Sci-Fi films

Sci-Fi Films use the latest state of the art technologies and techniques to help bring the films to life. Similar to other genre films, there are many types of shots used within Sci-Fi films such as close ups or extreme close ups to focus on detail such as weapons, new technologies etc. but to also show a characters feelings and emotions by focusing on a certain area of the character such as their face within a close up or their eyes to deeper emotions within an extreme close up shot. One of the most common shots is an extreme long shot (more commonly know as an establishing shot), these are used to establish where the film will be taking place or where a portion of the film will be set, i.e; the opening scene of Star Wars as the Imperial I - Class Star Destroyer chases down the rebel ship Tantive IV.
